Andreas Kipar closes the ColtivaTo Festival in Turin

ColtivaTo, the international Festival of Agriculture, took place in Turin over the weekend coinciding with World Water Day (March 22). From climate change and drought to innovative water resource management, from conflicts over water access to food security—inseparably linked to it—the second edition of the event was dedicated to the planet’s most precious resource.

On ColtivaTo Festival’s closing day, Andreas Kipar presented his talk, “Turin, City of Rivers,” illustrating a visionary project for the urban regeneration of Turin. This renewal is centered around the Po River and its tributaries, historic parks, and a revitalized connection between citizens and their surroundings. European cities are rediscovering rivers as their Natural Capital, assets to be enhanced for a sustainable urban economic future. Similarly, Turin’s river park—spanning 75 km and connecting the Po, Dora Riparia, Stura di Lanzo, and Sangone—brings Nature into the city, promoting biodiversity, well-being, and social interaction in everyday life.

From Parco del Valentino—a permeable connection between the city and the river, soon unveiling a newly redeveloped section—Turin is looking toward the future to become a Nature-Positive City, where water and greenery play a central role in the ecological and environmental transition. This green-blue infrastructure is an investment opportunity to provide innovative services and position Turin as a replicable model of climate resilience on an international scale.
