Savona moves towards a Nature-Positive strategy: LAND to develop the Urban Nature Plan
A new planning tool to connect biodiversity, climate resilience and urban transformation, recognising Nature as a strategic infrastructure for the city. The Municipality of Savona has appointed LAND to develop its Urban Nature Plan, the first planning instrument of its kind in Italy.
The Plan will guide the city towards a more resilient, inclusive and Nature-Positive development model, in line with the objectives of the European Nature Restoration Regulation and Italy’s forthcoming National Nature Restoration Plan.
The strategy will provide an integrated framework for understanding and enhancing Savona’s Natural Capital, connecting its urban green spaces, coastline, waterways, agricultural and hilly landscapes, ecological infrastructure and public spaces.
The aim is to establish a continuous green-blue network capable of strengthening biodiversity, improving the urban microclimate and supporting the city’s future transformation.

Developed through a multidisciplinary and participatory approach, the Plan will involve the local administration, residents, associations and key stakeholders in identifying priorities and defining medium- and long-term strategies.
