Participatory Processes

Sustainable urban development also implies justice and social inclusion. Planning procedures must engage with local communities to ensure the participation of different ages, genders, viewpoints, and cultural backgrounds. With the support of experts and innovative methodologies, we bridge the interests of diverse stakeholders and bring them to a shared vision.

LAND is partnered with several research initiatives funded by the European Commission involving citizen participation and bottom-up civic initiatives for active open spaces. Inspired by the New European Bauhaus’s principles of beauty, social inclusion, and sustainability, LAND has developed innovative methodologies to include a plethora of stakeholders in the design process, such as non-human users, neurodivergent and sensory divergent persons, and those affected by autism.

Landscape offers an outstanding vantage point for observing behavioral change and cultural relations. The ability to inform and direct the governance of open spaces is essential to ensure participation, and thus consensus and empowerment. LAND has experience in co-creating frameworks for collaborative governance in order to manage landscape transformation processes and bring in different stakeholders and disciplines during the assessment, planning, and place-making stages.

Training and education: LAND provides training and education opportunities for both its team and for clients and partners. We rely on our nearly 35 years of experience in landscape consulting, as well as various research and innovation projects, for our educational activities, workshops, and webinars.
