Project Plan
The design establishes a new balance between pedestrian circulation, mobility, greenery and flexible spaces for public activities and temporary events. Carefully integrated into the existing urban fabric, the project enhances the square’s architectural and historical identity through visual and compositional axes that reinforce its relationship with the surrounding buildings, highlighting the central role of the Garibaldi monument and the symmetry of the adjacent school building.
Nature and water management play a central role in the transformation. A new rain garden recalls the historical presence of water while contributing to sustainable stormwater management. Permeable surfaces and carefully designed gradients encourage rainwater collection and infiltration, improving the square’s resilience to changing climatic conditions. New planting areas and a diverse selection of species enhance biodiversity, provide greenery and improve environmental comfort.
