The project is rooted in an extensive analytical and participatory process. Through multiscalar territorial analysis, socio-economic studies and stakeholder engagement involving citizens, local institutions and businesses, the Masterplan builds on the knowledge and aspirations of the community to define a common vision for the future.

At the heart of the strategy lies a simple but powerful idea: Bibione is much more than its beach. While the coastline remains its defining image, it represents only a small part of a much broader territorial system. The municipality extends across more than 114 km², where approximately 50% of the land is agricultural, a rich network of cycling routes connects seven historic villages, and wetlands, forests and river landscapes form an exceptional natural heritage.

The concept “Molta + Bibione” reflects this broader perspective. Rather than focusing exclusively on the beachfront, the Masterplan reconnects water, nature, landscape and urban life into a coherent territorial system, positioning Nature as the primary infrastructure for future development.

The strategy identifies a series of interconnected priorities: regenerating public spaces and key urban destinations, strengthening the network of parks and green infrastructure, bringing Nature into the urban fabric, expanding slow mobility connections between the coastline and the hinterland, and enhancing sport and outdoor recreation as drivers of year-round attractiveness. Together, these interventions improve environmental resilience while creating new opportunities for social interaction, wellbeing and sustainable tourism.

By embracing a Nature-Positive approach, the Masterplan establishes a new model for coastal destinations: one where ecological systems, public space and economic development reinforce one another. Rather than simply adapting to future challenges, Molta + Bibione positions the municipality to lead the transition towards a more resilient, connected and vibrant landscape for residents and visitors alike.
