Presenting the "Nature-Factory Manifesto" at Milano Design Week 2025

How to move humanity from planet reserves absorber to resource producer?

In line with the theme of Milano Design Week 2025 "Connected Worlds", LAND and Porsche Consulting will come together to highlight the multisectoral impact of the "Nature-Factory Manifesto", unveiled last January in Davos during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting. This bold initiative envisions private companies transforming into “Factories of Nature,” embracing the role of resource producers rather than resource consumers. The event will take place at the LAND Terrace on April 9th, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM - in cooperation with Green City Italia.

The “Nature-Factory Manifesto”

Co-created by Porsche Consulting and LAND, under the leadership of Andreas Kipar, member of the World Economic Forum’s Task Force for Nature Positive Cities, this manifesto showcases how businesses can actively contribute to sustainable urban development by adopting nature-positive principles. The concept promotes a shift in mindset, positioning companies as enablers of cities’ green transitions and contributors to nature-positive spatial transformations.

Central to this initiative is the introduction of “Return on Nature”—a transformative metric designed to redefine sustainability as a competitive advantage rather than a compliance measure. By moving away from traditional notions of compensation and restitution, “Return on Nature” focuses on innovation, meaningful impact, and long-term value creation.

A Paradigm Shift

The “Nature-Factory Manifesto” transfers the framework of nature-positive landscapes to private companies, envisioning a future where humanity evolves from being a consumer of planetary reserves to a producer of resources. This approach not only fosters environmental resilience but also drives profitability and competitive differentiation.

Join the Conversation

We invite you to join us in Milan to explore how this visionary approach can connect different worlds, industries, landscapes, and reshape the future of our planet. The initiative will be carried out in cooperation with Green City Italia, an association that has been committed for 15 years to creating a European network dedicated to promoting urban greenery and developing sustainable strategies.

Together, we aim to inspire a global movement toward a nature-positive future.
