Nestled in the northern precincts of the City, adjacent to the bustling Riyadh airport, lies a verdant oasis set against the backdrop of rapid urban development. This park, a centrepiece of green urbanism, stretches along a meticulously designed central spine that weaves through the urban landscape, manifesting the City’s commitment to creating harmonious, natural spaces within its rapidly expanding borders.
The park’s design is distinguished by circular anchor points strategically positioned at the intersections where the central artery meets the meandering wadis. These anchor points serve not only as navigational markers but also divide the park into a series of smaller, intimate green spaces, effectively scaling the vastness of the landscape to a more human-centric experience.
As the park unfolds along the wadis, it seamlessly integrates into the urban fabric, its fluid nature softening the hard lines of the City’s architecture. The deliberate manipulation of the park’s topography introduces a series of undulating green hills, enriching the landscape with varying vistas. These topographical interventions are more than mere aesthetic embellishments; they conceal the encroaching architectural volumes from view, fostering secluded nooks that offer privacy to visitors. Additionally, the hills contribute to the park’s microclimate, casting much-needed shadows over the paths.
