A green landscape taking shape above Milan: latest progress at Policlinico di Milano

Work continues on the 7,000 sqm therapeutic roof garden, with new planting, irrigation systems and preparations for the next stages of landscape implementation.

A suspended landscape is gradually coming to life above the heart of Milan. On the roof of the new Padiglione Sforza at Policlinico di Milano, landscape works continue to progress, bringing the 7,000 sqm therapeutic garden closer to its final form.

During our latest site visit, we documented the ongoing transformation of the rooftop, where the planting of 100 trees has already been completed. Work is now progressing with the introduction of shrubs, herbaceous plants and groundcover species, adding further layers of vegetation, colours and textures to the garden.

At the same time, irrigation and sub-irrigation systems are being installed in preparation for the laying of turf across the future lawn areas. Further works on paving and outdoor furnishings will gradually complete the landscape, bringing together its different spaces and functions.

Within the wider multidisciplinary project team coordinated by Techint Group, LAND continues to oversee the implementation of the landscape works, working alongside Stefano Boeri Architetti, Barreca & La Varra and the many professionals involved.

Designed for patients, families and healthcare professionals, the garden will offer spaces for rest, rehabilitation and social interaction, bringing Nature into the everyday experience of care.

Step by step, this new landscape is taking shape 20 metres above Milan, transforming the rooftop into a living space where Nature becomes part of the healing environment.
