Parco del Valentino: A New Chapter Takes Shape as Regeneration Nears Completion

As the transformation of one of Turin’s most beloved parks approaches completion, a renewed landscape strengthens the connections between people, Nature and the Po River. Led by LAND Italia and its partners, the project enhances the park’s ecological and social value while preserving its historical identity.

At Parco del Valentino in Turin, regeneration works are nearing completion, while life continues to unfold along its tree-lined avenues, gardens and the banks of the Po River.

Throughout the different phases of construction, the park has never stopped welcoming people and Nature. From students of the Politecnico di Torino to runners, canoeing enthusiasts, residents and tourists, the Valentino remains an essential part of the city’s everyday life. Alongside them, squirrels, hares, ducks and other wildlife continue to inhabit its green spaces and riverbanks.

This coexistence between people and Nature lies at the heart of the park’s regeneration, enhancing its ecological and social value while preserving its historical and cultural identity.

Among the new landscape features taking shape is the white rose dome in the Rose Garden of the Giardino Roccioso, overlooking the historic Borgo Medievale. The roses have already been planted and will gradually grow to cover the structure, creating a new place for gathering and contemplation. A reminder that landscapes continue to evolve long after construction is complete.

Led by LAND Italia, in collaboration with TRA Architetti, RECCHI Engineering and GAe Engineering, the regeneration project covers approximately 20 hectares and forms part of a broader urban redevelopment initiative promoted by the City of Turin and funded through Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

Through improved accessibility, increased soil permeability, new green spaces and stronger connections to the Po River, the project aims to reinforce the Valentino’s role as a living ecological and social infrastructure for Turin.

As the final interventions approach completion, Parco del Valentino reflects a vision of urban regeneration that goes beyond physical transformation: creating the conditions for people, Nature and their relationships to continue growing and evolving over time.
