Urban Living, a window on the Decumanus of MIND revealed

LAND and Migliore+Servetto for Lendlease, on the occasion of the 60th Salone del Mobile, unveil the innovative ‘Urban Living‘ installation, a window on the Decumanus of MIND. Nestled in the Brera Design District, this installation, featuring an equipped parklet in Via Varese 12, engages in a captivating dialogue with the Wunderkammer exhibition space, dedicated to the MIND theme.

In the setting of the Brera Design District of the Milan Design Week 2022, LAND and Migliore+Servetto for Lendlease present the installation “Urban Living, a window on the Decumanus of MIND,” which investigates the great theme of the Salone, “Between Space and Time,” through the “meanwhile uses.” How can landscape, art, and culture anticipate and accompany the change in the city and become tools for managing the activation of spaces in the making, mirroring society, its inhabitants, and the multiple uses they make of space? The installation recalls the work carried out on the site of MIND, Milano Innovation District, the innovation district born from the reconversion of the Expo2015 area and developed in a public-private partnership by Arexpo and Lendlease to create a sustainable, carbon-neutral, and inclusive city of the future, where innovation is generated collaboratively for the benefit of communities.

Building on the experience gained at MIND, the MIND flow, curated by M+S, and the green loops, curated by LAND, arrive at Via Varese 12 to give back a green space to the local community. This happens with a living lawn, thanks to the support of HW Style – a leader in Italy in the design, creation, and maintenance of indoor and outdoor greenery. The yellow flow lines reach inside the LAND Wunderkammer, the LAND exhibition space set up for the occasion focusing on MIND.

The Urban Living installation brings the Decumanus elements of MIND into the city centre. It emphasises the great value of a temporary contribution that helps to accompany Milan’s transition towards a greener and more sustainable future.

A series of enlightening thematic meetings have been curated to delve into the various facets of ‘meanwhile uses,’ from design to communication. These meetings are designed to inform and engage the audience, providing a deeper understanding of the innovative concepts at play. All events organised during Milan Design Week have a media partnership with the international architecture portal floornature.com and will be streamed on the portal’s Facebook channel.
