Our Nature-Positive Vision on Springer Publishing

A chapter of the book "Nature-Positive Cities: Adaptive Spatial Planning in Italy for an Ecological Urban Transition" explores LAND's case studies of transforming cities and landscapes with scalable strategies and projects

The volume, edited by Andrea De Toni, Andrea Arcidiacono, Silvia Ronchi, is part of the book series: SpringerBriefs in Applied Sciences and Technology and also of the book sub series PoliMI SpringerBriefs.

This open access book provides a fresh methodological outlook to planning practices aligned with the Nature-Positive Cities concept, focusing on the underexplored role of biodiversity in urban areas and investigating cutting-edge topics in urban planning and policy design.

In a dedicated chapter, Andreas Kipar, Valentina Galiulo, Gloria Signorini and Daniele Galimberti explore the applicability and replicability of LAND’s Nature-Positive approach, in compliance with international policies and frameworks, across different countries and ecosystems.

From Essen to Riyadh and Milan, Nature is a vital infrastructure, essential for public health, climate adaptation, and social wellbeing. Urban regeneration processes, particularly on brownfield or underused sites, offer strategic opportunities to reintroduce biodiversity and strengthen ecological networks, reversing degradation and restoring continuity across landscapes’ scales.

Aligning the interests of developers, local authorities, and communities can help mobilize collective investment in green infrastructure, where private sector productivity supports public goods such as environmental restoration, resilience, and access to quality public space.

Projects like Krupp Park in Germany, Al Urbah Park in Saudi Arabia and T-Factor at MIND prove that ecological regeneration can and must become the norm, not the exception, in the urban landscape.
