From Green Space to Natural Capital: Recognizing Nature as a Strategic Asset
How can companies measure the value of Nature and integrate it into strategic decision-making? This question shaped From Green Space to Natural Capital, an exclusive networking event hosted by LAND Germany and LAND Research Lab on 28 October 2026.
Nature is increasingly recognised as a critical factor in economic resilience. Healthy ecosystems help mitigate the impacts of climate change, enhance the quality of working and living environments, and contribute to the long-term attractiveness and stability of business locations. Yet the value generated by Nature is still rarely assessed and managed as a strategic asset.
To explore how Natural Capital can become an integral part of corporate strategy, site development and long-term value creation, LAND Germany and LAND Research Lab brought together business leaders and professionals for an exclusive networking event in Düsseldorf.
Drawing on real-world business locations, Andreas Kipar, CEO and Co-Founder of LAND, Nikolas Neubert, CIO of LAND, and Jutta Langer, General Manager of LAND Germany and LAND Research Lab GmbH, discussed the methods, data and digital approaches that are opening up new possibilities for understanding Natural Capital.

The conversation went beyond landscape design. It focused on the potential to make the ecological performance of places more tangible and measurable, while examining the conditions needed to integrate Natural Capital into both strategic and operational processes. This requires not only robust data and appropriate assessment methods, but also new ways of connecting ecological outcomes with business priorities.
For LAND, this represents an important shift in perspective: from viewing green spaces primarily as designed environments to recognizing landscapes as systems that generate measurable ecological, social and economic value. By making these contributions more visible, Natural Capital can become a meaningful consideration in decisions about investment, development and the long-term management of business locations.

The evening also highlighted the importance of bringing different perspectives together. Meaningful progress depends on collaboration between landscape and urban planning, business, research and technology, connecting ecological knowledge with the tools and frameworks needed to translate it into action.
