Investing in Nature is Good Business

In an interview with Milano Finanza, Andreas Kipar reflects on how ecosystem restoration, Urban Nature Plans, and green infrastructure are becoming strategic drivers for cities, territories, and economic resilience.

In an interview by Angela Zoppo published in Milano Finanza, Andreas Kipar discusses the growing relationship between nature, finance, and territorial development in the context of the EU Nature Restoration Regulation.

The article focuses on nature as a true infrastructure for cities and territories: permeable soil can reduce hydrogeological risk, trees can lower temperatures, and green systems can strengthen climate resilience. Kipar also highlights the economic relevance of this transition, from European investments in ecosystem restoration to the regeneration potential of brownfield sites.

The interview also addresses the role of Urban Nature Plans in Italy, which will involve around 520 municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants. Examples such as Vercelli, Turin’s Parco del Valentino, and Milan show how depaving, green infrastructure, biodiversity, and citizen involvement can support a new way of planning public spaces and urban resilience.
