From BIM to LIM: An Interview with Sebastiano Favaro
Interview to Sebastiano Favaro about BIM evolving into LIM, showing how digital tools and AI are transforming landscape design into data-driven, sustainability-focused urban planning.
In this interview by Benedetta Bagni for BIM Portale, Sebastiano Favaro, BIM Manager at LAND, explores the evolution of Building Information Modelling into “LIM – Landscape Information Modelling®” a methodology tailored to landscape architecture and urban regeneration. Sebastiano explains how we integrate through LIM environmental data, ESG metrics, and biodiversity indicators into project development, enabling clients to quantify the ecological and social value of green infrastructure.
The interview also highlights major projects such as the “Al Urubah Park” in Riyadh and the urban regeneration of Turin’s Aurora and Barriera di Milano districts, both of which showcase the growing role of BIM in large-scale landscape and public-space interventions.
A special mention is dedicated to the use of Artificial Intelligence within LAND Research Lab and the launch of “Ecoverse – Design with Nature,” an AI-powered platform designed to support sustainable urban planning through data-driven environmental analysis, officially introduced on April 22 during this year’s Milan Design Week.
