“Foresight for Tomorrow”, the vision of Expo 2030 Riyadh, places nature at the very heart of its future-oriented masterplan. Expo will bring the world together to share a collective response to our greatest global challenge — climate change.

The Alpine environment represents one of the most sensitive and meaningful contexts for addressing the challenges of sustainable development. Home to around 13 million people and shared by eight European countries, the Alps are among the largest and most complex territories of the continent from a natural, cultural, and economic perspective. With high biodiversity and landscapes shaped by centuries of human-nature interaction, these territories today face increasing pressures from climate change and intensive land use, calling for forward-looking and integrated strategies.

GreenInCities transforms urban environments through Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), advanced technologies, and participatory urban planning. The project integrates AI, data-driven models, and neuroscience to enhance climate adaptation, mitigate urban heat islands, and foster resilient, community-driven green infrastructure in European cities.

The YZD Responsible Development Framework is the guiding document for managing environmental and social impact at YZD, an ambitious project of Northcrest Developments aimed at transforming the former Downsview Airport Lands, including hangars, runway and the surrounding areas into a dynamic, climate-resilient community hub. Spanning 370 acres, this redevelopment aims to align with Toronto’s 2040 Net Zero Carbon Plan and higher levels of the Toronto Green Standards, setting new perspectives for sustainable urban development. LAND Canada and LAND Research Lab GmbH provided key expertise in sustainability consultancy.

Med-IREN fosters climate resilience by integrating Nature-Based Solutions into critical infrastructures across the Mediterranean, Black Sea, and Boreal regions. The project combines research, innovation, and digital tools to scale adaptable strategies and improve decision-making in climate-vulnerable territories.

The coastal city of Genova is addressing climate and social challenges and has reshaped a former military barrack by deploying co-created nature-based solutions (NBS) within the H2020-funded UNaLab project.

HeritACT, an initiative under the Horizon Europe program, transforms cultural heritage into a driver of sustainable urban development. By integrating placemaking strategies and innovative design solutions, the project fosters inclusive, community-driven regeneration across European cities, enhancing environmental resilience and cultural identity.

“AGRICULTURE meets MANUFACTURING” is an official project of the International Building Exhibition StadtRegion Stuttgart 2027 (IBA’27). Developed for the city of Fellbach through an Integrated Action Plan, the project draws on applied research and local stakeholder engagement to envision a new landscape model for the Stuttgart Metropolitan Region—one that makes climate adaptation and quality of life tangible through spatial design. At the heart of the project lies a fundamental goal: to relearn how to live with the landscape by building new relationships—between agriculture and industry, between people and nature.

UrbAlytics is an innovative research initiative integrating Artificial Intelligence and remote sensing to assess urban heat island (UHI) effects and climate adaptation strategies. Developed within the AI4Copernicus H2020 project, the study focuses on Milan and Naples, using high-resolution mapping and Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) to enhance urban resilience and mitigate extreme heat.

UNaLab focuses on urban ecological water management, accompanied by greening measures and innovative and inclusive urban design.

T-Factor is a Horizon 2020 initiative that redefines temporary urbanism as a tool for early-stage regeneration. It fosters innovation, collaboration, and policy-making to create inclusive, sustainable, and community-driven urban transformations.
