The Parco Unione project addresses the dual identity of the Sesto San Giovanni area, bridging the historical urban fabric of the former Falck industries, with the marks of recent industrial transformations. This innovative park is composed of multiple interconnected elements that dialogue with existing industrial structures, aiming to create a distinctive identity and recognisability for the park itself.
Parco Unione is designed to be a vibrant destination, blending innovative and contemporary functions. It seeks to become a place of attraction, distinguished by its landscape characteristics and a functional mix that appeals to various users on different scales. The park’s layout is defined by a main loop intersected by thematic loops, each with its unique features and designed to cater to specific user groups.
The thematic loops include:
- Community Loop: This loop, featuring playgrounds, picnic areas, and communal gardens, is designed for families and local residents and promotes social interaction and community engagement.
- Sports and Recreation Loop: This area, equipped with sports fields, fitness trails, and cycling paths, caters to athletes and fitness enthusiasts and encourages an active lifestyle.
- Nature and Biodiversity Loop: This loop highlights areas planted with woodlands and tree lines and incorporates Nature-Based Solutions. It is dedicated to nature lovers and those seeking tranquillity.
