Urban Transformation and Climate-Resilient Cities - The Neext Forum in Vienna
At the Urban Transformation dialogue hosted by Drees & Sommer in Vienna, experts from LAND Austria joined leading voices to discuss strategies for climate-resilient and people-centered cities.
The latest edition of neext – powered by Drees & Sommer brought together professionals and researchers in Vienna to explore the future of urban transformation. Under the theme “Urban Transformation: Between Urbanity, Productivity and Innovation”, the event, organised with the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and ÖGNI – Austrian Society for Sustainable Real Estate, focused on how cities can respond to climate challenges through collaboration, innovation, and responsible design.

Representing LAND Austria, Michael Gräf and Amélie Meißner contributed to the discussion, particularly during the session “The Climate-Resilient City of the Future”. The conversation, moderated by Josefine Mochar from Drees & Sommer, included experts from AIT, Floodlight, Vestre, and GRÜNSTATTGRAU, highlighting how interdisciplinary dialogue can drive real change.
The debate emphasised the need to move from knowledge to implementation, translating research and design strategies into tangible, climate-resilient urban environments. Collaboration across disciplines and sectors emerged as a key factor for developing cities that are both adaptive and inclusive.
