SAS Course: Sponge Cities and Green-Blue Strategies for a Resilient Future

Starting this September, SUPSI launches an advanced training course dedicated to urban resilience, with contributions from Martina Conti and Davide Caspani.

From September 18th to October 14th 2025, the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) will host the Short Advanced Studies (SAS) course “Città spugna e città verde e blu: sinergie per un futuro resiliente”.

Climate change, urbanization, and land use pressures call for rethinking space planning to prioritize people and nature. The SAS will focus on redesigning public and private areas with greenery that boosts resilience and sustainability, making cities models of well-being and climate adaptation.

The course will include concrete case studies from LAND Suisse, featuring lectures by Martina Conti and Davide Caspani on 23 September and 7 October respectively. Hands on expertise will be shared on the topics of permeability, green-blue infrastructures, and Nature-based Solutions.

Organized by the Centro competenze cambiamento climatico e territorio SUPSI, the advanced study course is aimed at professionals in planning, construction, landscape, and real estate, offering both theoretical and applied perspectives on urban resilience.
