Parco Gavoglio featured on Stormwater

Parco Gavoglio is among the international case studies featured in Stormwater – Designing for Flood Management in Public Open Spaces, published by Birkhäuser. The volume explores innovative approaches to integrating stormwater management into public landscapes, highlighting projects that combine climate adaptation, ecological regeneration and public space design.

Within the publication, Parco Gavoglio is presented as an example of how Nature-Based Solutions can transform a former military site into a resilient urban landscape. Developed by LAND as part of the European Horizon 2020 UNaLab project, the intervention reconnects fragmented urban fabric through a sequence of terraces, rain gardens, bioswales and multifunctional open spaces that manage stormwater while enhancing biodiversity, accessibility and everyday public life. The project demonstrates how landscape architecture can turn water into a structuring element for ecological performance and social regeneration.
