Parco Nord Milano: Celebrating 50 Years of Urban Nature
Half a century after its foundation, Parco Nord Milano remains one of the most significant examples of urban regeneration in Italy. A living symbol of Milan’s transformation into a greener, more inclusive city, which Andreas Kipar himself contributed to.
In 2025, Milan celebrates 50 years of Parco Nord, retracing the vision that turned a once-industrial landscape into a thriving urban forest. Featured in La Repubblica Milano, the park’s story speaks of collective effort, civic pride, and long-term commitment to landscape.

The legacy of Francesco Borella, first director and designer of Parco Nord, is central to this journey. His vision of planting the first trees alongside Andreas Kipar, shaping the Montagnetta from industrial rubble, and engaging Milanese citizens in the transformation has grown into a living heritage.
A park that belongs to everyone and continues to evolve.
Today, under the guidance of Riccardo Gini, Parco Nord represents not only a model of ecological resilience but also a reference point for Nature-Positive Cities. It demonstrates how green infrastructures can improve the quality of life, strengthen communities, and inspire future generations of urban planners.
