LAND Suisse at the OTIA General Assembly 2025: Shaping Climate Resilience in Ticino
Joining the roundtable of local experts to explore how climate resilience and green economy are impacting Ticino’s landscapes and cities
On 24 September 2025, LAND Suisse took part in the roundtable held for the 78th General Assembly of OTIA (Ordine degli Ingegneri e Architetti del Canton Ticino), held at the PalaCinema in Locarno. The event brought together professionals, researchers, and policymakers to reflect on the urgent challenges of climate change and the role of architecture, engineering, and landscape in shaping resilient territories.
During the roundtable discussion “Opportunities and challenges for a territory confronted with climate change”, Federico Scopinich, General Manager of LAND Suisse, joined leading voices including Claudio Zali (Vice President of the State Council and Director of the Department of Territory), Annalisa Rollandi (Researcher SUPSI-DACD), and Luca Nisi (Meteorologist, MeteoSvizzera). Moderated by Giovanni Realini, the debate explored strategies for addressing issues such as hydrogeological risks in Alpine valleys, the urban heat island effect, and the broader need for sustainable planning practices.
With Ticino as a unique laboratory for climate adaptation, Federico Scopinich emphasized how landscape architecture can foster resilience by integrating nature-based solutions, circular economy principles, and green infrastructures into urban and territorial planning.
We thank OTIA for hosting such a valuable exchange, which confirmed that only through cross-sector collaboration and innovative approaches can we ensure livable and climate-conscious landscapes for future generations.
