LAND MENA: Ahmed Salem appointed as Director

We are pleased to welcome Ahmed Salem as Director of LAND MENA, based in Riyadh, strengthening the studio’s presence and activities across the Middle East and North Africa.

An architect and urban planner, Ahmed has lived, studied, and worked across Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Malaysia, and Germany, developing a strong international profile that combines architectural design, urban strategy, and cross-cultural collaboration. He began his professional career at the AHK, working on Egypt–EU relations, before joining UN-Habitat, where he contributed to initiatives supporting urban growth at a national scale.

Over the years, Ahmed has been involved in a wide range of international architectural projects across Europe, and competitions in the Middle East, successfully aligning design excellence with project delivery within complex, multidisciplinary and multicultural contexts.

As of January 2026, Ahmed leads LAND MENA’s office in Riyadh, focusing on cultivating strategic alliances, bridging cultures, and supporting the delivery of cities with climate-positive landscapes, in close collaboration with both local and international teams. In this role, he will support the development of LAND’s growing project portfolio in the region and contribute to the expansion of the studio’s activities in the Kingdom.

With this appointment, LAND continues to strengthen its international leadership structure, reinforcing its commitment to collaborative, culturally grounded, and forward-looking landscape and urban projects.
