Horti Aperti 2026: Exploring Nature as strategic Infrastructure
At this year's edition of the renouned horticultural festival in Pavia, Andreas Kipar will join designers, landscape professionals, researchers and nature enthusiasts to explore the role of Nature in becoming a strategic infrastructure for creating better, more resilient cities.
On 19–20 September 2026, Horti Aperti returns to Pavia for its fifth edition, bringing together voices from landscape, gardening, ecology and urban culture around the future of green in the city. This year’s theme, “The Art and the Way: the intelligent garden, designed with passion and cultivated with care”, places the relationship between knowledge, care and nature at the centre of the festival.
On Sunday, 20 September at 12:15, Andreas Kipar, Founder and CEO of LAND, will lead the workshop “Natural Capital: Nature as Strategic Infrastructure for a Nature-Positive City” at the Almo Collegio Borromeo.
Drawing on LAND’s Nature-Positive planning approach, Andreas Kipar will share insights into the Landscape Vision for the City of Pavia, developed within the framework of its Piano di Governo del Territorio. The workshop explores how natural capital can become a strategic urban infrastructure, generating environmental resilience, urban quality and a better quality of life.
Ultimately, this means shifting the role of landscape: from green as decoration to nature as infrastructure, and from landscape as backdrop to landscape as a driver of urban transformation.
