Andreas Kipar at Visionare Varese: Nature as a Driver of Urban Transformation
On March 25, Andreas Kipar, CEO and Co-Founder of LAND, took part in Visionare - I dialoghi di architettura, a lecture series promoted by the Ordine degli Architetti della Provincia di Varese and curated by Fulvio Irace.
Hosted at Villa Panza, the event gathered over 50 participants in person and more than 250 online, highlighting strong interest in the evolving role of landscape in contemporary design.

Titled “From Vision to Action: Nature as the New Urbanism,” Andreas Kipar’s talk positioned nature as a central element of urban transformation, not as a backdrop, but as the system within which cities operate.
Introduced by Paola Bassani, the lecture aligned with the Visionare 2026 program, which brings landscape thinking into the core of architectural discourse.
Nature as Capital and Infrastructure
Kipar highlighted the need to recognize nature as a form of capital, measurable, valuable, and essential to urban systems. Referencing global approaches such as natural capital accounting, he stressed the importance of integrating environmental value into decision-making processes.
He also presented the Nature-Factory Manifesto, introduced at the World Economic Forum, calling for industrial sites to become climate-positive through strategies such as green roofs, water management, and integrated climate design.

A Cultural Shift in Design
Drawing from his interdisciplinary background, Kipar reflected on how the role of landscape has evolved over the past decades. What was once marginal is now central: a shift from building to cultivating.
His closing message was clear, cities are adapting, and nature is becoming a key driver of comfort, biodiversity, and long-term urban value.
This event in Varese reflects LAND’s ongoing commitment to promoting landscape as a fundamental framework for shaping resilient and future-oriented cities.
