In the projects he consistently tackles through his company, he deals with global challenges and local problems alike. Working closely with clients and stakeholders, he seeks out creative solutions. In constant contact with industry and society, culture and science, he teaches landscape architecture and public space design as a visiting professor at the Politecnico di Milano.
In November 2023, the World Economic Forum in Davos appointed him to the global expert group for the “Nature-Positive Cities” initiative. He is an internationally sought-after, inspiring discussion partner on subjects related to the development of urban and rural areas using nature-based solutions.
Conscious of his mission to reconcile people with nature, he is a tireless communicator within his mostly young team at LAND, inspiring them just as he is inspired by his team. He sparks enthusiasm and in turn embraces it.
Andreas Kipar’s consulting work ranges from his activity as EU expert for the Hamburg Environmental Program (1993), to the IBA Emscher Park (1994/1999), to his work on the expert committee of the 2027 International Building Exhibition for the Stuttgart urban region (IBA ‘27) He led the city of Essen to its receipt of the 2017 European Green Capital Award (EGC), assisted in securing the nomination of Cagliari (EGC 2022/2025), and is currently getting the nomination for Heilbronn (EGC 2026) off the ground. Over the past 30 years, he has advised more than 20 cities, including Düsseldorf, Milan, Rome, Lugano, Venice, Trieste, Lecco, Vercelli, and the Republic of San Marino, as well as Montreal, Dubai and Riyadh.
Andreas Kipar is a full member of the German Academy for Urban and Regional Planning (DASL), the Association of German Landscape Architects (BDLA), the Italian Association of Landscape Architects (AIAPP), and the Italian Institute for Urban Planning (INU). He is the co-founder and president of Green City Italia, an internationally-focused non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing urban greenery. Many of his international projects have received awards. For his volunteer activities in bringing Germany and Italy into an exchange of ideas, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit ribbon in 2007.
