“Die Stadt lebt auf” by Andreas Kipar
A collection of texts developed between 2020 and 2025, Die Stadt lebt auf reflects on the climate crisis and on how landscape, Nature-based approaches and urban design can help shape more liveable, resilient and Nature-Positive cities and landscapes.
Published in October 2025, Die Stadt lebt auf brings together a selection of texts, reflections and initiatives developed by Andreas Kipar between 2020 and 2025 within the context of LAND’s work, curated by journalist Henning Klüver.
The publication explores how landscapes and urban spaces can respond to the climate crisis and to rapidly changing environmental conditions. Rather than treating climate change solely as a threat, the collected contributions also consider it as a catalyst for rethinking the relationship between people, Nature and the places they inhabit.
Across the book, Nature-based approaches, healthy air, living soils, water management and the protection and restoration of biodiversity emerge as essential components of more resilient and liveable environments. Together, they form part of a broader vision for Nature-Positive Cities and Nature-Positive Landscapes, in which open space and green infrastructure are understood as active systems that can generate ecological, social and urban value.
Die Stadt lebt auf also reflects on LAND’s way of working: from exploring and researching, to collaborating and ultimately cultivating through project work. At its core is the idea of “Reconnecting People with Nature” — a principle that highlights the role of landscape and urban design in improving quality of life and supporting a more responsible transition towards the future.
