Cassarate River Park: Works Continue
Works on the Cassarate River Park continue in Lugano with the launch of the first lot for the Piazza sul Fiume, marking a new phase in the project to improve the river’s safety, enhance its urban environment and redefine how the Cassarate is experienced within the city.
Construction works on the Cassarate River Park are continuing in Lugano with the launch of the first lot for the Piazza sul Fiume, an important new phase involving the municipalities of Canobbio, Lugano and Porza.
The project, supported by the Confederation, aims to improve the safety and enhancement of the Cassarate River while redefining its use within the urban environment. The riverside square reconnects residents with the Cassarate through an accessible space where flood safety, vegetation and active mobility create new opportunities for social interaction.
The launch of the works was marked on September 22 with an official ceremony and the installation of a littering-themed totem created by the Consorzio Valle del Cassarate (CVC) e golfo di Lugano in collaboration with the Centro scolastico per le industrie artistiche (CSIA).
