Andreas Kipar on the role of Landscape
Andreas Kipar participated in the webinar "LEZIONI ITALIANE – FATTO IN ITALIA" promoted by Mediolanum; this event, inspired by Italo Calvino's LEZIONI AMERICANE, is part of a series of talks with internationally renowned Italian architects, aiming to highlight possible solutions for the post-covid future through the thoughts of visionary minds.
In the interview with Gian Luca Bianco, Andreas Kipar spoke about the critical role of landscape in facing the most urgent challenges of the upcoming times. The conversation faces different themes, starting from Pope Francis’ assumption of Integral Nature in his encyclical “Laudato Si'” to the meaning of “taking care” of the environment in its several ways: a priority not only for landscape architects but for all human beings. As strategic landscape planners, we aim to give back value to the authenticity of historical territories such as the region of Marche, a territory full of beauty and heterogeneity, from the sea to the hills to the mountains, by working with new tools and technologies. Landscape and Innovation could connect history, territorial vocation and development. They can be merged together into a system that LAND’s research defines in the concept of Digital Landscape, a new innovative approach already applied in Italy in the CariGO GREEN3 project developed with IKON and Fondazione Carigo.
“It is time to start a global debate to ensure we reconcile with our land as authentic citizens. Living in the territory means belonging to a place: where do I belong if not where I have affections, or where do I carry out my daily work? This can be a new starting point to set up new financing models that can feed the network and the small portions and processes of overall cultivation, resisting the easy constructive temptations. We need to reactivate what we already have.”
